Magic Maud !
Philippe and I are both sailing people, Philippe has done his transatlantic twice allready, has done a lot of competition sailing, Starchampionship, and Dragon Regata's (also Royal Regata Cannes, Les Voiles de St Tropez etc) and today we dream of being on a boat and sail away with the children, freedom and leave everything behind. But lets get back to reality...After having rowed across the North Atlantic in 2003 and the Pacific in 2005, Maud Fontenoy undertook a sailing trip around the world, alone and against the prevailing winds.
I admire this girl, and I just wanted to share this moment with all of you.
She left in October 2006 from the Island of Reunion (Indian Ocean) and arrived yesterday having sailed along Cape of Good Hope, the Southern Seas, the Roaring 40’s, the Howling 50’s… an exhausting adventure that has been attempted very few times.
She managed to set up jury riggin after her mast had came down in February and could finish her course to the final destination.

Hey Sailsien! Yes they are amazingly brave, Maud, but also Ellen. And a bit crazy to if you ask me (having sailed the atlantic once - yes, Philippe, you win ;)
But, like you, we are also making plans to sail away from it all. To Australia is the idea. And some time soon! First sell a coupla houses though - or 2000 paintings..

OK! Maarrrr weet waar je aan begint - dit is wat het ook is: zweren op je kont van het zoute water, nooit iets droogs aan, je niet kunnen wassen, om de vier uur uit je nest om (helemaal in je eentje) wacht te lopen (tenzij de stroom uitvalt en je met de hand moet sturen, dan is het om de 3 uur), angst, zeeziekte, golven van tig meter, altijd ijskoude voeten, weken achter elkaar samen , op een ruimte van, wat zal het zijn? 20m²? maar niet samen slapen.... En dan noem ik alleen nog maar de dingen die "normaal" zijn. We gaan er binnenkort écht over drinken!!!Sterke verhalen vertellen...
